Dr. Ahmad Rahman Songip
Dr. Ahmad Rahman Songip is Professor of Innovation Management, intrapreneur, speaker, trainer and consultant in Break the Pattern at the Department of Management of Technology, Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur.
Dr Ahmad who hails from Johor, Malaysia, was the Founding Director of UTM Transformation & Risk Management, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) (2010-2013). He was also a member in the UTM Central Executive Committee and the UTM Management Group as well as a member in the UTM Board of Director Sub-Committee on UTM Enterprise Risk Management (2010-2013).
As the Academic Director at Business & Advanced Technology Centre (2002-2005), he successfully re-engineered the ailing center to register a phenomenal growth of 2400% and 3900% in revenue and net profit, respectively.
As the Deputy Dean at the UTM Research Management Centre (1995-1997), he initiated a paradigm shift in R&D management that led to the formation of ten research Focus Groups in line with the Malaysian industrial clustering strategy. The Focus Groups had facilitated UTM in getting a 400% jump in procured research grants.
His corporate experiences include being the General Manager of Chemical Division, Actacorp Holdings Berhad (1997-99), and General Manager of Global Technology and Innovation Management Sdn Bhd (1999-2002), a joint venture R&D company between UTM and the University of Queensland, Australia.
Since 2002, Dr. Ahmad has been conducting teaching, training and consulting on the transformation of the minds, entrepreneurship development, creative problem-solving, and innovation management. Dr. Ahmad is passionate on helping organizations to sharpen and capitalize the latent potential of their greatest asset: The creativity of their human capital.
Dr. Ahmad’s flagship training workshop is on Break the Pattern. This short training program facilitates participants to think out-side the box to generate creative ideas that could deliver value creation to the organization. Dr. Ahmad has been invited as a keynote speaker in numerous conferences and to conduct workshops in Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Qatar and UAE, sharing his passion on the concept of Break the Pattern.
Among Dr. Ahmad’s notable clients are PETRONAS, Oracle Malaysia, MISC Bhd, Telekom Malaysia, Sarawak Shell Bhd, Sabah Shell Petroleum Co. Ltd., Kulim Bhd, Johor Port Bhd, IWK, JKR, MOSTI, SPAN, MARA, MDeC, SEDCs, FELCRA Bhd, SIRIM Bhd, UTM, UMP, UPSI, UTeM, MINDEF, PERHEBAT, NAZA and KLIA Holdings. So far, more than 5000 participants from more than 500 organizations have immensely benefited from his facilitations.
His flagship consultancy program, on the other hand, is called VACCINE (Value Creation Acceleration through Creativity and Innovation Experience), which helps organizations harvest the minds of their human capital, ensuring the organization’s long-term survival and sustainability. VACCINE focuses on the middle managers who have been identified as the future leaders to leverage massive cultural changes towards the creation of innovation culture in the organization. VACCINE program runs between 12-24 months. It solves problems along the value chain of the organization to create exceptional value creations. Dr. Ahmad was a Petronas Scholar and graduated with BSc (High Honours) and MChE degrees in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA. He holds Dr.Eng in Chemical Engineering from Kyoto University, where he was a Japanese Government Scholar. Dr. Ahmad supervises more than 50 Masters and Doctorate students and has published more than 100 publications. He holds four Intellectual Property rights.
